Draycote Water 10mile – 8th March 2015

This was a lovely 2 (and a bit) lap chipped race around Draycote Water. Unfortunately it clashed with Kibworth 6 but would be well worth considering for next year.

Congratulations, especially to Nicki and Graeme!

Nicki won her 12th East Midlands Grand Prix Series by 15 secs on Tuesday evening at the Milton Keynes 10km. Going into the last race on a best 5 from 8 events to score, rival Rachel Cave had 3 victories (Blisworth, Corby & Banbury) and a 2nd place to Nicki’s 2 wins (Mkt Harborough & Weedon) and 2 second places. Both needed to run the last race for their 5th qualifying event. Nicki won in 37.19 with Rachel 2nd just 15 secs behind. This left both athletes with 3 wins and 2 seconds. The decision was made on head to heads of the races where they both ran. This ended in Nicki’s favour by a majority of 1!

There were 278 starters in this race setting off from Rydal Hall in glorious weather. The course was longer than previous years, steeper with more boulders and rocks to jump over, according to Mr O’Dowd!
