The club is involved in various organised leagues race and other competitions. In addition to these league events, there are many other races around the midlands region or nationally that members may enjoy.

Road Races

Road racing season usually runs from January to October. The club are members of the following leagues:

Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL)

The LRRL series of road races take place on Sunday mornings and attracts runners of all abilities. Races are over a range of distances from 5 to 10 miles. Prices for these races vary by event and pre-registration is required for all races. The LRRL is divided into two separate Leagues:

  • LRRL Winter League: January-March. Entry is restricted to LRRL member clubs only.
  • LRRL Summer League: May-September. Entry is open to the public.

Currently the league races are oversubscribed and therefore entry to all races is online and is first-come-first-served.
Please note: car sharing is compulsory at all LRRL events due to restricted parking spaces – you will be turned away from venues to find your own parking if you turn up as single occupants.

East Midlands Grand Prix (EMGP)

The EMGP series of road races take place on summer evenings throughout May and June. There are eight races are over a range of distances from 5 miles to 10K (6.2 miles). Prices for these races vary by event but a discount is available if you are entering the entire series.

Cross Country

Cross country season usually runs from October to February/March. The club are members of the following cross country leagues:

Derby Runner Cross Country League

The Derby Runner series of cross country races take place on Sunday mornings and attracts runners of all abilities. Races are over a distance of approx. 6 miles. They are essentially the cross country equivalent of the summer and winter road races. They normally cost just £3 or £4 which is payable on the day (although there may also be a car park charge at venue). No pre-registration is required, just turn up on the day wearing your Harriers club vest and report to Phil Watts in the Harriers tent.

North Midlands Cross Country League

The North Midlands (usually referred to as North Mids) series of cross country races take place on Saturday afternoons and attract a lot of strong runners. Ladies race over 4 miles and men over 6 miles. They are completely FREE to enter (although there may be a car parking charge at the venue). No pre-registration is required, just turn up on the day wearing your Harriers club vest and report to Phil Watts in the Harriers tent.
